Key Objectives
As a Senior System Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for a team that designs, configures, integrates, and supports all corporate physical and virtual infrastructure and systems, including connectivity to cloud-based systems. You have the skills to ensure operations run smoothly, scale as appropriate, and embrace innovative solutions. You are hands-on as you maintain all systems, troubleshoot technical challenges, manage complex projects and solve issues as they arise.
You will be a lead technical member of the team, establishing or building upon our existing architecture, audit compliance, and documentation as well as being a point of escalation for the Helpdesk team. You will ensure adherence to industry standard security practices and proactively monitor the internal infrastructure with outsource provider to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead technical support and oversee day-to-day duties for managing a primary and secondary (failover) datacenter environment, consisting of a completely virtualized environment built on converged VCE infrastructure.
• Assesses architecture and current hardware limitations, evaluates processes and systems capabilities and then recommends updates and solutions to the Vice President of IT to improve our systems to reduce risk, improve uptime, improve performance or address any technical limitations. .
• Use market best practices to manage and evaluate new solutions, and evolve the IT infrastructure.
• Ensure production-level systems are secure and redundant to ensure seamless operations.
• Ensure outsourced proactive monitoring and management of systems are in place to minimize impact affecting customers or stakeholders from system downtime.
• Manage corporate IT infrastructure for optimal performance, reliability, redundancy, and scale.
• Work with team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, peers, outsource partners, and senior executives.
• Develop and execute contingency plans for compute host system, storage, and network-related system failures, and maintain a business continuity plan.
• Maintain compliance with audit requirements and keep all software licensing and maintenance contracts current.
• Install, validate, integrate, and support critical business system applications
• Define and develop efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problem through strategic thinking and “hands-on” technical abilities.
• Update system and process documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required
• Develops and implements risk plans, identifies risk, assesses risk and develops mitigation plans..
• Provide technical expertise and direction through a deep understanding of technical architecture, quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, maintainability, and testability.
• Meet commitments and multitask in a fast-paced work environment with a high-level of accuracy and efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor systems engineer and other IT staff as appropriate.
• Present business solutions professionally and persuasively through strong communication skills and a solid understanding of end-user needs and requirements.
• Works with key stakeholders within the organization to meet business needs and organizational goals.
• Any other duties, tasks, projects or assignments as directed by supervisor.

Knowledge & Experience required
• Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (IS/CS degree preferred). MS a plus.
• 8-12 years of professional hands-on experience with systems administration, with significant experience in a VMware, EMC Storage, Cisco network environment (preferably converged).
• VMware virtualization configuration and management experience including Site Recovery Manager (SRM) required
• EMC storage configuration and management experience including RecoverPoint required, XtremeIO and vPlex experience a plus.
• Cisco UCS server configuration and management experience required.
• Working knowledge and experience with Cisco network components (routers, firewalls, switches) a plus.
• Experience configuring and managing Microsoft Exchange.
• Experience configuring and managing Active Directory, LDAP, and Single Sign-On integrations.
• Experience administering and supporting Windows environments (Mac and Linux are a plus).
• Strong scripting skills (Powershell, SQL, shell scripts).
• Experience with Microsoft SQL.
• Experience administering and supporting Amazon Web Services and Azure is a plus.
• Experience with building and using REST and other web services API frameworks a plus.
• Experience with Bitbucket and Octopus Deploy configuration automation management software a plus.
• Demonstrated mentoring skills combined with flexibility working in an evolving and growing IT environment.
• Familiar with best practices change management and architecture; an example would be ITIL.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to proactively communicate detailed status to project team.
• Strong organization skills.

Working Conditions
• Position located in the Austin, TX corporate office and allows for some remote work (less than 20%)
• Periodic lifting requirements of up to 25 lbs.
• The incumbent spends the majority of time sitting or standing in a comfortable position with ample opportunity to move about.
• Travel may be required, but is expected to be less than 10% of the time worked.
• Position will require some work during non-business hours.
