Description Summary
This position provides 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy to young children, adolescents, and young adults with autism at the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVU CED).

Duties & Responsibilities
1) Provide 1:1 direct client therapy using principals of Applied Behavior Analysis.
2) Follow Behavioral Skills Acquisition and Behavior Reduction Protocols developed by certified staff.
3) Collect, record, and graph data on observable client behavior data.
4) Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding child’s daily performance.
5) Implement daily skills protocols, as needed.
6) Create therapeutic materials for clients and parents.
7) Create and disseminate educational materials and workshops for parents of children with autism.
8) Collaborate with other WVU CED providers to develop, implement, and refer individuals to other services as needed.
9) Maintain client confidentiality according to HIPAA laws.
10) Collaborate with a Treatment Team as needed.
11) Interpret written Clinical Protocols.
12) Share in the responsibility for daily cleaning and maintenance of client workspace and clinic as a whole.
13) Attend WVU CED staff meetings.
14) Other duties assigned by supervisor

Supervisory/Lead Role
Position reports to the WVU CED Director with day-to-day oversight by the Intensive Autism Service Delivery (iASD) Clinic Director.

Physical Demands
This position requires a moderate amount of climbing stairs, handing, reaching, and the ability to carry 50 pounds. Must go from a sitting position to a standing position quickly, be able to run, and sit on the floor or stand for extended durations. Must have strong communications skills with the ability to carry out oral and written instructions and multi-task. Must be able to relay information well to others verbally and written in various forms including creating reports.

Work Environment
Works in standard office atmosphere with shared space and equipment. Moderate noise levels are experienced in the office area where the position is located. Incumbent is responsible to know and comply with all safety procedures.

Requirements Requisite Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
1) Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field;
And
2) 1 - 2 years of related work experience;
3) 1 year of experience providing 1:1 behavioral services to individuals with autism;
Or
4) An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
1) Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) Certification preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
1) Knowledge and experience providing evidence-based treatment to young children with special needs.
2) Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and appropriate treatments.
3) Ability to work and meet established deadlines with the ability to effectively communicate orally and narratively with consumers, professionals, providers, and co-workers.
4) Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
5) Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
6) Possess any physical limitations that would inhibit ability to speak clearly, see, hear, read or limit fine and or gross motor.
7) Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary.
8) Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
9) Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
10) Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accurate records.
11) Ability to maintain confidentiality.
12) Ability to pass a back ground check.
13) Maintain a consistent work schedule.
14) Make at least a 1-year commitment.
15) Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
16) Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
17) Maintain professional boundaries.
18) Adhere to WVU CED Policies and Procedures.
19) Commit to ongoing training and development.
20) Maintain a professional appearance.
21) Accurate time keeping and related documentation.
22) Pass training competencies tailored to the specific needs of assigned clients. Methods including but not limited to role-play, verbal communication, coaching, and feedback.
23) Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
