Description NATURE OF WORK:
Provides exceptional child care that enhances the lives of infants and toddlers. Performs related functions for Mountain Munchkins ensuring the safety, care, and well-being of assigned children while conducting circle time, arts, crafts, games and outdoor time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides direct child care and interacts with children, toddlers, and infants; maintains and ensures the safety, care, and well-being of assigned children.
• Open and close the facility when needed.
• Creates and executes lesson plans and activities related to a specific theme.
• Conducts assessments and observations on designated children if applicable.
• Assists in conducting parent teacher conferences if needed.
• Actively engages children with books, toys, and structured activities.
• Conducts circle time, arts and crafts, songs, and games.
• Research and execute art projects, crafts and activities that relate to designated themes.
• Supervises, monitors children’s play activities and is aware of each child’s location.
• Coordinates and provides lunch and snacks for children; prepares infant bottles and foods.
• Provides for the individual needs of children including changing diapers, feeding, napping and dressing children.
• Cleans and maintains the facility and assists in providing a safe environment for children.
• Prepares daily report cards and/or other departmental documentation.
• Practices a positive, age appropriate discipline approach.
• Provides consistent, loving care to all infants and toddlers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous child care experience and pre-employment drug testing required.

Licenses/Certification(s):
CPR and First Aid, Universal Precautions and minimum on 20 hours of annual training is required. Maintain the required continuing education and training courses as outlined in the Rules Regulating Child Care Centers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of child care; rules, regulations, and standards governing child care; child care facility records and documentation; equipment and supplies relative to child care; children’s games and activities.

Skill in: Performing a variety of child care functions; maintaining compliance with regulations and standards governing child care; providing for the safety and well being of assigned children; engaging children in structured activities; demonstrating quick reflexes and responses; demonstrating patience; positive attitude; focusing on many children at one time.

Environmental Factors:
Work is performed in a child care facility environment; work is in a busy, noisy, sometimes chaotic environment; constant interaction with staff, children, parents.

Physical Factors:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and is required to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Work involves exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids common to child care environments.
