An ophthalmolgy surgical coordinator needs to have a good understanding of medical terminology and a basic understanding of surgical procedures for our ophthalmology practice.
This individual must clearly understand the value of excellent patient care to be effective in this position, with multi-tasking abilities and strong organizational skills creating the best surgical schedule for the patient as well as the physician.
This position includes data entry with accuracy and timeliness.

| Requirements |
The scheduler needs to have outstanding communication skills with patients, physicians and surgery centers with great importance on professionalism and courtesy.
Having a working knowledge of ICD-9 codes, CPT codes, surgical costs, and the Internet is a must.
This individual needs to be comfortable with discussing any financial issues with the patient and have the ability to foresee potential problems and direct them to the appropriate person.
This position requires proficiency and accuracy in completing pre-op paperwork and explaining the surgical procedure and surgical schedule to the patient.
The surgical scheduler will be responsible for the physician’s requirements for surgical resources and posting the physicians charges for the surgical procedures.
