Title Healthcare Accounting/Tax Manager

Our firm, a nationally recognized CPA firm with offices in Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Nashville, and St. Louis is looking for talented individuals who are interested in Healthcare Tax, Accounting and Consulting Services.

The ideal candidate will have experience with physician groups, individual physicians and other non-hospital providers (i.e. ASC’s, Urgent Care etc.) be detail-oriented, responsive and proficient at multi-tasking. The individual will assist healthcare and physician clients with helping grow their business by providing tax services, value added consulting and day-to-day transactional services.

This candidate would have the desire to be part of a collaborative, high energy, and high performing team that offers significant opportunities for growth and advancement. This candidate would want to be part of an entrepreneurial team and excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. It is expected that this person could grow into the leader of our firm’s significant physician practice.

Major Responsibilities

• Understand general tax accounting concepts and procedures

• Federal and state tax preparation and planning

• Financial statement analysis

• Experience in Healthcare industry:

  • Physician compensation analysis
  • Individual physician members’ annual income tax issues
  • Joint ventures
  • Budgeting and cash flow
  • Overhead analysis
  • Practice benchmarking
  • Buy-sell considerations
  • Physician practice accounting
  • Claims data analysis

• Consult and advise clients on proper accounting system set up and best practices

• Prepare workpapers and analysis for various general ledger accounts

• Consult with clients to develop budgets and financial forecasting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annually prepared or compiled financial statements

• Identify and communicate accounting matters to other engagement team members

• Establish direct communication and working relationship with clients


Preferred Experience/Background/Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• CPA or working toward certification

• Four or more years prior accounting experience, preferred

• Prior income tax preparation, including partnerships, corporations and individuals

• Strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology

• Prefer Quickbooks experience, but not necessary

• Energetic, enthusiastic and willingness to take initiative

• Ability to handle multiple engagements at the same time and address challenging client requirements while providing quality service

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required)

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

• Strict adherence to professional ethics

Working Conditions

• The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and client expectations

• Travel for this position will be minimal

• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 20 to 30 pounds

• Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, etc
