Title Communications Specialist

Description

The Communications Specialist is responsible for managing all media relations and external editorial for the firm, as well as internal communications for RubinBrown and its affiliates.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the firm’s overall strategies related to marketing, branding and communications, both internally and externally.
  • Work with top firm leadership, Chief of Staff and Director of Communications to establish an internal communications strategy.
  • Manage RubinBrown’s internal communications initiatives, including planning, writing, editing, distribution and oversight of:
    1. Firm wide newsletters and communications
    2. Implementation and ongoing maintenance of firm intranet
    3. Future digital collaboration and social media strategies
  • In collaboration with leadership and marketing, provide guidance, assistance and contributions to:
    1. Executive leadership communications, including firm wide emails and presentations
    2. Content for internal meetings, including the Town Halls and Team Member Updates
    3. Firm visioning strategies and initiatives
    4. Communication strategies for business unit leaders
  • In cooperation with firm’s industry group and service line leaders, create media relations and content marketing strategies and initiatives to help grow specific practices.
  • Assist industry groups and service lines with thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and reputation building at all geographic local levels, as well as nationally (and vertically through the respective trades).
  • Write all firm press releases, pitches and articles, as well as follow up with media outlets to ensure editorial placement.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with appropriate media outlets, including local business journals, profession publications and trade publications.
  • Manage vendor relationships (including vendors who are RubinBrown clients).
  • Represent RubinBrown at external business and civic events.
  • All other duties as assigned.

     

Requirements

Preferred Experience/Background/Skills

  • Bachelors degree in marketing or related degree.

  • At least five years of experience preferred (not required).

  • Excellent project management skills, including an understanding of how projects fit into bigger strategic plan.

  • Strong writing and editing abilities.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Possess strong interpersonal, analytical and research abilities.

  • Ability to meet challenging client requirements while maintaining a client service approach.

  • Comfort working independently, requiring minimal direction, as well as working collaboratively with other team members.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required).

  • Ability to effectively utilize technology and a commitment to learn in the technology environment.

  • Understanding of social media platforms and other digital tools and how to use them effectively for business.

  • Strict adherence to professional ethics.

  • Ability to successfully contribute to the success of strategic business units of the firm.

 

Working Conditions

  • The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

  • Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and client expectations.

  • Travel for this position will be minimal.

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.

  • Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, vendors, etc.
