SUMMARY: The RN Skilled Nurse is a Registered Nurse who administers skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing service and teaches and supervises the family and other members of the nursing team. Each staff nurse performs nursing services for residents within a specific area. These services are performed in accordance with the physician's orders and under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state Oklahoma
• Minimum of one year of experience as a professional nurse
• Must have a car with required insurance coverage and a valid state driver's license or reliable transportation

RESPONSIBILITES:
• Conducts the admission of the patient to Ross Health Care Hospice program, as assigned and per agency policy
• Temporarily assumes the responsibilities of the RN Hospice Case Manager, as assigned in the Case Manager’s absence, including all RN Case Manager job responsibilities
• Evaluates the need for a Hospice Aide, makes appropriate assignments and provides supervision of the Hospice Aide per agency policy
• Provides skilled nursing care as outlined in the nursing care plan and as ordered by the physician
• Follows at all times the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act and the accepted standards of nursing care
• Consults with the attending physician concerning changes in the patient’s condition and potential need for alteration of the plan of care
• Completes and submits documentation per agency policy
• Completes an accurate time log or other acceptable method of documenting work time, visits, travel, etc.
• Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings (IDT) as needed
• Participates in in-service training, staff meetings and other meetings as required
• Maintains effective ongoing communication with team members, including the supervisor, to convey information, discuss issues, coordinate care, etc.
• Participates in the educational experiences for student nurses
• Perform all other duties as assigned

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the position
• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
• Requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports
• Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours
• Requires travel
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids
• Physical demands are in excess of those for light duty work

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
• Reports to Clinical Supervisor and/or other Administrator’s as assigned
