SUMMARY: The Clinical Supervisor is a registered nurse who supervises staff nurses, coordinators, and supervises other professional and paraprofessional staff as indicated.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Licensed registered nurse in the state
• Minimum of four years experience as a professional nurse, preferably two of those four have been in home health care
• A baccalaureate degree is preferred but may not be required
• Must have current CPR license
• Must have a car with required insurance coverage and a valid state driver’s license or reliable transportation

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists in development of clinical policies and procedures and ensures that written clinical materials are accurate and updated regularly
• Implements evaluations of staff to ensure a high quality of care
• Participates in and conducts personnel evaluations
• Coordinates the clinical record review
• Hires or assists in hiring clinical staff
• Establishes methods for coordination of care by all disciplines
• Establishes staffing patterns, which reflect the quality and quantity of various personnel necessary to plan, provide, and supervise the care rendered to clients and families
• Promotes coordination of care among all professional and paraprofessional disciplines
• Assists in coordinating the Agency’s in-service programs and ensures requirements are met
• Consults with the Administrator regarding ways to solve problems and maintain or improve high standards of care
• Keeps the clinical procedure resource materials current
• Promotes staff development through participation in orientation and staff education
• Participates in community activities to further the work of the Agency
• Continually evaluates the Agency’s clinical practices
• Gives leadership in promoting and maintaining standards for giving high quality care by all members of the client care team
• Supervises and teaches in order to improve practice within the Agency
• Consults with physicians in matters relating to client care services
• Consults with staff regarding clients or families, special programs or service programs
• Periodically reviews policies relevant to client care with Administrator
• Assists in evaluating personal job performance and departmental performance regularly
• Serves as a member of committees as requested by the Administrator
• Assumes other duties as assigned by Administrator
• Perform all other duties as assigned

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the position
• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position
• Able to travel to prospective clients' place of residence
• Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours
• Requires sitting at desk at intervals throughout shift
• Data entry into computer at intervals throughout shift
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids
• Has the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the patient, patient’s family and the personnel of Ross Health Care

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
• Reports to the Home Health Administrator or other Administrators as assigned
