Horizon Hobby is an established Champaign based company and a global leader in the design and distribution of leading-edge radio controlled (RC) hobby products. We are currently looking for engineering students who are available to work part time (10-25 hours a week) starting on or before January 2, 2014, to assist with exciting, state of the art RC projects. Ideally, we would like people with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering skills who are able to do some or all of the following:

·         Develop new electronic components for both rotary and fixed wing radio controlled model aircraft. Typical projects will be items such as single-axis MEMS based gyroscopes, multi-axis flight stabilization systems, electronic speed controllers and similar devices.

·         Design drafting products from conceptual design into CAD models producible by plastic injection, CNC machining and other processes.

·         Develop mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics and materials.

·         Able to code software using C/embedded software.

Requirements for the positions include:

·         Familiarity with circuit design.

·         Proficiency in programming with C/embedded software.

·         Strong experience with Solidworks, ProE, and/or other applicable CAD systems.

·         Experience in design, drafting, prototyping and production of injection-molded plastic products.
