The Safety Coordinator helps to minimize the risk of job-related accidents. Monitors operations to eliminate hazardous activities. Assists in the development of policies to promote occupational health and safety OSHA awareness. Tracks UVL and TX DOT drivers and vehicles.

Responsibilities:

• Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks.
• Assist in development and lead enforcement of work and safety policies (e.g. accident reporting process).
• Assist Human Resources with accident investigation procedures.
• Partners with Human Resources in reviewing records of safety-related incidents and identifying trends and propose corrective actions or proactive ways to improve safety.
• Assist Human Resources to organize and conduct safety training.
• Assist Human Resources to recognize worker’s comp trends and identify ways to help improve.
• Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
• Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
• Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSHA matters.
• Keep Track of UVL and TX DOT inspection for UniGroup vehicles.
• Keep Track of local driving contracts for each branch.
• Run semi-annual and new driver MVRs for Owner Operators, Company Drivers and local driving contractors and temps.
• Ensure insurance has timely notification of removal of drivers no longer working for company.
• Perform quarterly audits to ensure all active drivers are listed on insurance policy and terminated ones are removed.
• Send reports to local office every month to advice of upcoming inspections.
• Host regular meetings with branch management to cover safety topics, reporting and compliance.
• Handles vehicle registrations, plates, insurance, and titles for new and existing vehicle.
• Manage paperwork process for sold vehicles.
• Register new vehicle and drivers with UniGroup.
• Manages and maintains logs for vehicle insurance.
• Create and manage check and balance reports to ensure compliance on mileage, logs, HOS, safety, etc.
• Ensures compliance for all Drivers Files and logs and maintains them in a secure place.
• Identifies and schedules required safety classes for drivers, ensures completion.
• Review for accuracy monthly driver charges, such as tolls and insurance and works with accounting on items needing correction.
• Provides breakdown of IRP Account charges to accounting.
• Update and keep in compliance with FMCSA and Texas DOT for all long and short hauling and file UCR and MCS150.
• Assist with accident claims and settlements.
• Ensure Unigroup drivers are participating in pre-employment and random drug pools and track any refusals.
• Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.
• Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.
Requirements Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelors degree, a plus
• 5 years moving and/or transportation experience
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Accident Prevention and Risk Management certification, a plus
• Ability to work well in time-sensitive situations.
• Proven ability to apply attention to detail, role-related accuracy and task follow-through.
• Proficient using MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and other Microsoft Office products.
• Positive, proactive, and professional demeanor.
• The ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business principals, financial statements, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or regulators.
