Title Supply Chain Logistics Manager

Description

SCOPE: This position is responsible for strategic and tactical management of Supply Chain Logistics operations with a focus on network optimization. This individual will manage logistics vendors and the logistics spend category including – assess and select vendors, negotiate and manage agreements, performance manage etc. Support launch of new products into new territories. Lead process improvements in shipping and freight vendor management. The position also interfaces cross functionally with Warehouse Operations, Manufacturing, IT, Finance, Sales and Marketing. In addition, this person uses their analytical skills to interpret and organize data into meaningful recommendations to management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Freight vendor and category management (assess/select/manage, spend optimization, contract negotiation and governance, performance management & score carding)

• Developing logistics solutions for new product intro and territory expansion

• Process improvements – optimize in/outbound delivery performance, order consolidation etc

• Budget management, forecasting, industry trend analysis

• Freight value proposition/offerings and characterize voice of the customer

• Develop recommendations for investments in shipping and logistics solutions that promote efficiency, quality and customer service

• Serve as the logistics SME for business acquisition integrations, new product launches, operational improvements etc.

• Perform root cause analysis on process errors, productivity and/or quality shortfalls and apply problem solving skills to eliminate issues and ensure core functions operate effectively

• Develop and maintain logistics network analysis and logistics strategy

• Manage multiple carriers and contracts and perform cost and process analysis and leverage results to make key decisions

• Hold service providers accountable for performance

• Develop and maintain department procedures

• Perform or assist with any departmental operations, as required or directed to maintain work flow and meet production schedules and requirements.

• Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and projects to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.

Requirements

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Optimize logistics solutions and network for cost, quality and service

• Freight solutions that optimize cost, quality and service levels

• Develop and implement vendor management program

• KPI’s – freight spend and spend efficiency, logistics vendor performance, transit times

• Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop freight solutions for customers in support of commercial goals

• Team building, attract logistics talent into the organization

• Deliver projects on-time and on-budget

• Identify opportunities and deliver operational improvements

 

HIRING PREFERENCES:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or business

• 5-10 years’ experience in supply chain and logistics

• Demonstrated competency with cross-functional engagement and collaboration

• Proven analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills

• Proficient computer skills – particularly Microsoft Office applications

• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles and APICS concepts

• Experience with SAP
