We are looking for an experienced Marketing Communications Specialist to join our team!

General Summary:

The purpose of Marketing Communications Specialist is to create brand-building content to support our products, services and leadership initiatives. The individual in this role should be a talented writer, storyteller, editor and content creator that has the ability to wordsmith focused messaging to engage different audiences. This position will also support other activities within the marketing department, including but not limited to media relations, customer relations and product development.

Essential Job Functions: 

Content Creator:

  • Prepare content in the form of (but not limited to): quarterly shareholder newsletter, monthly employee newsletter, blog posts, case studies, white papers, emails and various other marketing materials.
  • Gather content through research and interviews conducted with subject matter experts.
  • Translate marketing strategy and company culture initiatives into compelling copy.
  • Build online content using SEO principles and best practices.
  • Use engaging language while creating clear, concise, accurate and relevant copy.
  • Proofread and edit marketing materials.
  • Understand the different ways in which targeted audiences consume information so as to apply the appropriate technique to maximize results.
  • Assist with social media efforts.
  • Helps to create, maintain, and enforce corporate style guide and voice & tone standards.
  • Ensures brand standards are consistent and maintained across all channels.

Internal Communication Coordination:

  • Assist in the internal communication of company values, goals and initiatives along with marketing strategies and tactics that drive customer acquisition and revenue across business product lines.
  • Assist in the updating and creation of marketing materials; maintain accuracy and adhere to brand standards.

Media/Community Relations Coordination:

  • Oversee communications to the media, including preparing articles, press kits, press releases and other content initiatives.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with industry, regional and local press representatives to ensure the company is represented accurately and favorably.
  • Cultivate and assist in managing relationships with local chambers and city officials.
  • Gather and disseminate timely information to the press and staff.
  • Ensure the company protects and promotes its image in a proper, coordinated and consistent manner.
  • Plan and oversee press events.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to succinctly write technical documentation and creative copy using a variety of tones.
  • Excellent communication skills and writing capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-starter highly motivated to succeed under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstration of exemplary organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of telecom and Cable industry/operations, technology, and equipment a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of management and finance principles and practices a plus, a plus but not required.
  • Experience with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to foster a team environment and sustain employee morale.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or other related field preferred.
  • 1-4 years of content creation and editing experience.
