General Summary: Oversee network operations in strategic initiatives, such as budget compliance, maintenance contract management, operational acceptance standards, network status communications, network maintenance, and outage repair coordination.

Oversee network operations in strategic initiatives, such as budget compliance, maintenance contract management, operational acceptance standards, network status communications, network maintenance, and outage repair coordination.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee and direct company initiatives for the network operations and enterprise service activation/support teams.
  • Architect and implement training and development initiatives for Network Operations and Enterprise TAC employees.
  • Develop and implement standards, procedures, and processes for the Network Operations team.
  • Support the efforts of the NOC Manager to ensure that the Network Operations team meets all company needs.
  • Manage the operating and capital expense budget concerning, but not limited to: staff compensation, equipment sparing and replacement, and equipment support contracts.
  • Report on key metrics regarding network and operational performance.
  • Serve as senior level escalation point for network operations managers and staff for response and resolution of operational issues.
  • Identify and prioritize resources available for new projects.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans.
  • Cooperate and/or lead in various meetings with management, departments, and vendors to ensure objectives are met, as well as interdepartmental planning.
  • Ensure the Network Operations team contributes in a successful implementation of strategic plans.
  • Lead effort in designing and implementing workflow, process and policy enhancements concerning Network Operations teams.
  • Develops training programs related to technical advancement of Network Operations teams.

 

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of network operations best practices, as related to carrier and telco networks.
  • Proficient in employee training and development and process development
  • Strong interpersonal skills • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and respond to workplace dynamics

  • Understanding of Network Operations teams’ contribution to success of company as related to the NOC and Enterprise TAC functions

Education and Experience:   
High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 year degree in MIS or CIS-related field. Five to seven years of Network Operations related responsibility in a carrier or telco environment.
