Description The Instructional Technologist will report to the Executive Director of Curriculum and work with Curriculum Project Managers and Subject Mater Experts to create online and we-assist face-to-face courses in a variety of disciplines, integrate current and relevant educational technology into existing courses, and assess third party educational technology products and services. This position is remote.

Major Responsibility Areas:

MRA #1. Support and Contribute to Production and Development of Courses.

Duties:
• Works individually or collaboratively to create or revise courses for online, blended, and face-to-face modalities.
• Design, develop, and produce media elements for curriculum projects.
• Research and identify appropriate third-party technologies to improve or create an effective and engaging student experience. (i.e., lecture capture, plagiarism detection, or screen capture).
• Assists with options for presenting instructional materials or presentations using a variety of software applications, including but not limited to Camtasia, Wimba Voice Tools, Photoshop, podcasting, videoconferencing, digital cameras and audio/visual editing software.

MRA #2. Faculty Training and Support

Duties:
• Train faculty members on the use of the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Assist Curriculum Project Managers in training faculty members on the use of third-party software embedded into the LMS (i.e., publisher software, Articulate, Captivate, etc.).
• Provide technical support to faculty members concerning the LMS and embedded third-party software.
• Implement and maintain the Learning Objects Repository in the LMS.

MRA #3. Technical Support and Analytics.

Duties:
• Test new software embedded in the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Perform quality control on all courses and correct any errors and ensure accessibility.
• Troubleshoot and correct technical issues within Canvas.
• Track, assess, and report on learning analytics associated with implemented educational technology.
Requirements Job Requirements: The following job requirements represent minimum levels of education, experience and competencies/abilities needed to perform this job successfully:
1. Education: Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field required.
2. Experience: Two years’ experience prior experience in instructional technology, preferably in higher education. Experience working with Canvas LMS.
3. Competencies: Incumbent must (be) able to:

• Familiarity with other third party educational technologies (i.e., Articulated, Captivate, WordPress, Camtasia, SoftChalk, etc.)
• Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles, multimedia and instructional technologies, and synchronous and asynchronous instructional strategies
• Ability to read and interpret student learning analytics, faculty data, and institutional metrics
• Familiarity with adaptive learning models and personalized instruction
• Familiarity with gamification
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and accessibility guidelines
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and stay current in a rapidly changing field
• Ability to collaborate and work in a team as well as independently
• Ability to problem-solve and propose creative solutions
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Good customer service skills
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines while working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently without supervision and to work on large projects with other team members
• Attend meetings and training events, which may include additional travel

4. Physical and Mental Requirements:

Physical Requirements: This job requires normal physical mobility, including the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Normal hand-eye coordination; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and lift up to 40 pounds, is also required.

Mental Requirements: This job requires the ability to read, recall, write and understand information. This job also requires the ability to work under moderate pressure and to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Environment: This job is normally performed in a clean, well-lighted, heated and cooled office area/classroom.
