General Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Research, this position utilizes a high degree of skill in professional office work. This position is responsible for supporting the Research Department including general office support, interfacing with internal and external vendors and clients, and integrating data and evaluation results into public information and public policy/legislative initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Provide administrative support including but not limited to:  providing budget materials/printouts, completion and submission of credit card reconciliation, completion and submission of expense and mileage forms, ordering and maintaining supplies, maintaining department inventory, assisting with meeting set-up, submitting payment documentation for vendors, supporting travel arrangements for meetings and conferences, etc. 70%

•Work with internal and external stakeholders/vendors to complete research activities (e.g., mail house, GIS consultant, collecting surveys, etc.). 5%

•Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders on department projects. 5%

•Conduct entry, cleaning, and validation of data and oversee interns or temporary employee data entry. 5%

•Develop databases in Excel or Access to track research data. 5%

•Prepare charts and graphs for professional, clear presentation of data. 5%

•Develop high quality surveys. 5%

Job Specifications:


•High School Diploma or equivalent required. AA degree preferred.

•Two years of experience in professional office or research work, preferably in a non-profit or public sector environment with social services experience.



•Knowledge of general office procedures required.

•Intermediate level knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint required.

•Advanced level knowledge of MS Excel required.



•Excellent customer service skills.

•Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•Exceptional attention to detail.

•Must be able to produce high quality work and meet deadlines on a consistent, on-going basis.



•Ability to make independent decisions and take initiative to find solutions.

•Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic, and respectful relationships with a diverse set of co-workers, supervisors, and clientele; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues.

•Ability to complete assignments under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments; strong time management and prioritization skills are required.

•Highly reliable and dependable.

•Ability to compute basic statistical and mathematical functions (such as mean/ average, range, percentages, etc.).

•Ability to honor confidentiality required.

•Automobile, California Driver’s License and auto liability insurance required.
