Successful candidates will need the following:
Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education/ Child Development, or related field which includes a minimum of 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
3 units in infant/toddler development
2 years’ experience working with families and children in an Infant/ Toddler setting required.
Hold a current California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Teacher permit.
Training and experience in the principles of infant and toddler development. Experience in infant and toddler assessments and curriculum preferred.
Ability to converse, write, and/or translate in Spanish or Armenian preferred.
Criminal Records (e.g. Live Scan Fingerprinting), Child Abuse Index Check, Sexual Offender Registry, Health and Tuberculosis (TB) test clearances required.
Hold a valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
Show ability to have flexibility, maturity of judgment, and ability to work collegially.
Must have strong organizational and leadership skills. Respect each individual, child, and family.
Guide supervisees to a vision-centered action approach and upholding the values and principles of the organization.
Valid California Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, automobile insurance, and clean DMV record required.
Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, families, and the community to work as part of a team, and collaborate with colleagues.
Ability to supervise pre-school children and ensure a safe environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas.
Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation.
Ability to maintain all assigned workflow and a high level of customer satisfaction in a fast paced working environment.
Ability to develop an environment that is free of disruptive influences.

Within a team structure, provide quality services for infants and toddlers enrolled in the Early Head Start center based program which include the following responsibilities:
Interactions with Children and Families
- Implement a culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate individual and small group activities utilizing lesson plan, daily schedule and classroom materials. Implement with fidelity the Creative Curriculum to encompass current program School
Readiness Goals. Follow daily indoor and outdoor activities to provide an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the development levels, interests, and special talents of infant and/or toddler. Ensure and maintain a clean and safe indoor and
outdoor learning environment on a daily basis. Sanitizing toys and classroom equipment, including eating, diapering and napping area as needed. Provide care for all infants and toddlers including feeding, diapering, and holding. Communicate regularly with
parents, regarding each child’s progress. Conduct the required parent conferences and home visits to establish individual goals, classroom progress, and provide educational strategies at school and home. Assist with Transition into Early Head Start program
and out of Early Head Start program.
- As a direct supervisor in the classroom ensure the daily functions of the classroom, act as a mentor and guide teacher assistants in all areas in the education program including but not limited to delegating and rotating classroom responsibilities. Supervise,
evaluate and train teacher assistant as needed. Provide leadership by example and follow CCRC vision principles for all teacher assistants and volunteers. Maintain communication and professional boundaries at all times with staff and parents.
- Ensure reports required by the Agency and the State are adequate and timely. Maintain a system of confidentiality for records and information of Head Start families. Complete and submit weekly lesson plans and goals. Collect observations for ongoing assessments
to ensure child outcomes are meeting agency benchmarks. Read, analyze, and interpret data from the DRDP (2015). Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, effective teaching strategies, regulations, licensing, DCFS, and diversity application. Assist
with generating in-kind.
Teacher Designee Duties
- When the Center Director is not on site the Designee will be responsible for the all Center operations, staff and children. The Teacher Designee will be informed and trained in center operations, emergency procedures and unusual incident reports by the
Center Director and Education Supervisor.
- When the Center Director is not on site the Designee must be aware and report all issues, emergencies and unusual incidents.
- When the Center Director is not available the Designee must inform the School Readiness Supervisor, if not available then notify the School Readiness Manager, of any unusual incidents (refer to procedure) immediately and completes required paperwork.
- When the Center Director is not on available the Designee must notify and get approval from School Readiness Supervisor and or School Readiness Manager when staff request time off or early dismissal.
