Title Payroll Supervisor

Description AFSC has experienced significant growth over the past several years and has the immediate need to hire a highly-motivated Payroll Professional to supervise the payroll processing. This position will report directly to the Payroll Director and work closely with others in the department. Candidate must be able to meet strict deadlines, have a positive customer service attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing their job responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
 Oversees the processing of payroll for 1,500+ Domestic and International Employees
 Supervises payroll coordinator and payroll specialists positions
 Ensures the payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner
 Researches payroll issues relating to earnings, deductions, taxes, PTO and effectively communicates resolution to employees and/or management
 Partners with Accounting, Business Office and HR to provide data and reports as needed
 Ensures all payroll information is maintained in accordance with statutory regulation
 Supervises the setup and audit of employee data and payroll maintenance files
 Approves timesheet corrections to ensure accuracy of labor costs and charges
 Reviews calculation of payroll runs to ensure accuracy
 Responsible for balancing hours and earnings between accounting and payroll system
 Processes tax documents in compliance with state, federal and international regulations
 Balances 941 submissions and audits W2s, W2-GUs, W2-PRs and W2-VI for accuracy
 Works closely with UltiPro to ensure timely and accurate periodic and annual tax reporting
 Responsible for processing all child support, garnishment and tax lien calculations
 Manages payroll vendor relationships domestically and internationally for various benefits
 Assists with internal/external audits and supports the development, updating and monitoring of all internal controls to accurately report financial information for the payroll department
 Performs a variety of more complex functional and analytical payroll-related duties
 Provides problem solving guidance on payroll systems-related issues and systems training
 Ensures a high level of customer service is provided to both internal and external customers
 Leads departments internal initiatives and projects with minimal management oversight
 Mentors and trains existing staff and new Payroll Specialists in the department
 Completes special projects and other duties as assigned


Requirements Requirements:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
 Must have both 5 years of Supervisory and payroll processing experience
 Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
 High Degree of Professionalism; Ability to deal with and protect sensitive information
 Must be a Team Player with strong work ethics and attention to detail
 Strong commitment and leadership in ensuring customer service excellence
 Knowledge of Federal/State/Local labor laws and payroll tax regulations
 Extensive knowledge on payroll calculations, multi-state payroll taxation and garnishments
 Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices along with SOX’s required
 Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills and relationship management
 Proven experience with Deltek Systems, UltiPro and Workday systems preferred
 Well versed in government contracts compliance, FAR and CAS preferred
 Experience with Service Contract Act (SCA) and Collective Bargaining Agreements
 Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while mentoring staff
 Must have strong time management skills along with organizational and problem solving skills
 Experience with indirect cost rate principals and cost allocations preferred
 Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
 Ability to multi-task prioritizing jobs in a fast-paced environment
 Must be able to pass a background check, credit check and drug test
