Description This is a 6 month assignment, beginning in January 2018.

We are in need of a strong Employee Relations (ER) professional to support a company of 1500 employees worldwide. This position is based in Arlington, VA and will be part of a local HR team.
During this short-term effort, will provide support to line managers and employees through policy interpretation, recommending corrective action strategies, and investigating employee concerns and grievances. Assists in preparing and drafting company position statements and other correspondence.

This position requires a working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and compliance regulations in a federal contracting environment including: FLSA; Title VII; FMLA; ADA; ADEA and other laws and regulations affecting the workplace.
You will also advise all levels of management and employees regarding all areas of AFSC HR policy and practice.

Previous skills as a HR Generalist specializing in employee relations would be very helpful in this role. We are a full-service HR team and as such you will find yourself working multiple issues, concurrently. Professional knowledge of on-boarding and general benefits administration would also be helpful. You will likely maintain and update employee records in the UltiPro HRIS and process onboarding and employee change information in coordination with company functional departments. Using strong customer relations skills, respond to employee questions. Detail-oriented, strives for accuracy in all aspects of data entry and recordkeeping.
Requirements Professional Experience/Qualifications:

• Related Bachelor's Degree preferred; High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• 6-8 years' experience in HR with minimum 3 years of employee relations experience.
• Track record of using independent judgment in making assessments and recommendations.
• Technical experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel) and HRIS (UltiPro or equivalent).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with managers and employees.
• General understanding of the Service Contract Act (SCA) and unions would be very helpful in this role.
• General knowledge of benefit plans and underlying regulations.

Must be able to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies and procedures.

Physical requirements can typically be characterized as active: Lifting, bending, sitting on the floor, climbing may be required in the position. Requires lifting or moving various pieces of equipment, maximum 40 lbs. Position may require work on hands and knees to conduct program activities.
