Title Sr Mgr/Dir Business Dev & Alliance Management

Description Evaluation of new business opportunities, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures followed by execution and entering into new collaborations (i.e. licensing arrangements). Direct oversight and management of partnered project in alliance management role. Partnering with Executives and employees of the organization to maximize business development opportunities.

• Responsible for the identification, negotiation, and analysis of new business opportunities
• Lead sourcing, diligence and transaction execution associated with out-licensing efforts
• Develop, communicate, implement, and maintain an effective business development plan with input from internal team members
• Cultivate a strong and effective partnership with the R&D team to evaluate the potential of new programs, and to integrate a business and commercial perspective early in the research and development process
• Assessment of business opportunities for a variety of therapeutic areas
• Communicate the progress toward business development milestones to Company management
• Provides hands-on leadership to multidisciplinary project teams in the implementation of strategic alliances and business collaborations
• Point-person to manage existing partnerships
• Successfully implement business agreements through alliance management
Requirements Skills Required:
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to interact internally and externally with executive-level management and scientific staff
• Ability to negotiate a variety of business agreements including strategic alliances
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across functional groups
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams working within a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical, evaluation, and interpretation skills
• Ability to integrate the business development function with the Product R&D strategy
• Appropriate expertise in financial modeling and written presentations including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Entrepreneurial and hands-on, comfortable in a dynamic company environment and possesses the ability to multi-task and set priorities
• A strong team builder and team player
• An innovative thinker who embraces open communication and debate
• Ability to successfully manage multiple project simultaneously

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field, MBA is a plus
• Knowledge of product development, medical device (combination product) development is a plus
• A minimum of 7+ years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and proven track record in licensing deals
• Understanding of product commercialization (sales and marketing)
• Hands-on experience in alliance management (research collaborations)
• Record of accomplishment including experience with structuring, negotiating and closing transactions
